Crypto card selection guide

Uncertain cashback, or guaranteed functionality?

Decide your criterion before comparing rates. Weighing two things of different nature on one scale makes a rational choice hard.

Cashback is a conditional benefit whose timing, payout asset and upkeep depend on the provider's policy, whereas features and limits are disclosed and fixed as contract terms.

Cashback or functionality — which should guide you?

1. Cashback is an expected value; features are fixed values

Cashback becomes certain only after passing through rate, cap, tier, payout asset and exclusions — each changeable by the provider. Limits, card-to-card transfers and external withdrawals are disclosed contract terms that work as stated.

2. Revisit why you want a crypto card

The core value of a crypto card is turning exchange or wallet assets into a payment method without a bank account. If a payment is declined for lack of limit, or your balance cannot be withdrawn, the rate means nothing.

3. Rewards come with costs and lock-ins

Large annual fees, staking own tokens or cashback usable only in-app are costs and risks in themselves. Always ask what you must pay or lock up to keep the rate.

4. Conclusion — small-spend rewards or real-use functionality

For small monthly spend aimed at rewards, a cashback card can make sense. For large payments or managing funds from your own wallet, choosing on limits and transfer features saves more in practice.

Start — what do I prioritise?

This is a classification by design purpose, not a ranking. Globally, users who experienced repeated cashback changes are moving to function-focused cards. Whichever path you take, first confirm that rates are disclosed item by item.
